Notes1:Gimont is on one of the roads to St. James of Compostella, the Via Tolosana, the road through Toulouse. The bastide was founded in 1266 on land belonging to a Cistercian abbey. In the mid 14th century it was under English influence. The Black Prince
Notes2:crossed it but no massacres are recorded.The 14th century gothic church. Typical of brick constructions around Toulouse.
